Free Ovulation Calendar: The 411 on Finding the Right One for You

If you’re looking for a free ovulation calendar, then you know it can be surprisingly confusing to find the right one — after all, there are dozens, perhaps hundreds, of them online. Here’s your guide to finding a great calendar to track your fertility cycles.

Free is good.

With so many free fertility resources on the ‘net, it simply doesn’t make sense to pay a dime for an ovulation calendar—and that includes paying a subscription fee to a website to access that calendar! Be aware that some sites that offer ovulation calendars with tons of features may ask you to register for free with the site or community.

All aboard!

Want to track by basal body temperature (BBT)? Cervical mucus? Both? A good calendar for ovulation will provide all the tracking tools you need to take control of conception.

Got graphs?

You shouldn’t need a degree in medicine to decipher the information you enter into an online ovulation tracker. Rows of data are fine if you’re a natural numbers person, but most of us benefit from a clear, easy-to-understand summary. A good free ovulation calendar will clearly highlight the days when you have the best chance of conception. Some tools will show you the days in a calendar page format; others will simply provide an easy-to-read list of the dates you will be most fertile.

Get tech-y!

Whether you want an ovulation calendar app for your Android or iPhone or an automatic text message sent to you on your most fertile days, technology is making it easier than ever to keep on top of your fertility cycle. For example, the popular parenting site BabyCenter offers the cleverly named Booty Caller, a service that sends a series of text messages to alert you when you’re most likely to be fertile.

Info rocks.

While fertility charting isn’t quite rocket science, there will be times when you have questions. Look for a free ovulation calendar that also offers a range of articles, e-books, or tutorials that covers everything from how to chart basal body temperature to how to read your personal fertility chart. Some websites may also offer community features, such as fertility chat rooms, forums, or bulletin boards, which are an excellent way to find support during your quest to have a baby.

Where to get free calendars.

What else do you need to know about ovulation calendars?

Calendars to chart ovulation are designed to predict the most fertile days in a cycle—they are not intended to be a reliable way to prevent pregnancy. In addition, if your cycles are over 35 days, under 21 days, or very irregular, a calendar for ovulation may not be accurate.

Don’t leave fertility entirely in the hands of Mother Nature.

Start using a free ovulation calendar to learn more about how your unique fertility cycle works and, potentially, conceive faster.
